can she really do this?

Postby kal » Wed Jul 18, 2012 7:36 pm

Ok I can home from work. heated up leftovers. And she is demanding this and that.. No change there. I asked her to please stop, or I was going back to the garage to finish eating and go to bed. She said "if I want to come out there you better let me in, or I will call the police. It's my garage too." Guys the only reason I have been sleeping in the garage is so I can get some peace and quite, and a good nights sleep. If she does call the police because I will NOT let her in, can they force me to? I truly hope not.

Been there brother. You better have a recorder in your pocket and any dirt moved out of your life. When she does call the cops or come after you to kill you and force you to call the cops, you are going to need that recorder to prove your innocence.
You can't live in the garage forever. She's not going to snap out of it and begin acting like a human being. It's over. Yeah, you think you can't afford a divorce or to lose half of your assets, but you will survive. File for divorce and free yourself.
...or I could be wrong.

This is not about a legal matter. You can lock yourself into any room of the house you like, and the cops can't say squat.

But like I stated, this is not about a legal matter. This is a practical matter. If you locked yourself in the garage, she would probably call the cops and tell them that you hit her and then you went into the garage and locked the door threatening to kill yourself. Then you'd have a nice quiet jail cell to share with your fellow henpecked brethren. Either that, or she would bang on the door and yell at you until the neighbors called the cops.

Do yourself a favor and master the art of attaining inner peace. Have you ever watched Office Space (the movie)? Ron Livingston's character Peter achieved the sort of inner peace you need, so you could have your STBX AND her three fattest friends yakking at you without disturbing your digestion or your sleep.

Agree with the others. Sleep in the garage, but don't lock the door. Have your mp3 recorder on at all times. Say things calmly and quietly, such as "can't you see I am trying to sleep?" "Please stop yelling." And be sure if she is threatening you talk about it..."please put down the baseball bat, I am only trying to sleep." Don't engage in arguments. "This is not the time to discuss that, it is late and I need sleep. Stop yelling, the kids are hearing your inappropriate language."

Don't talk to her except about a settlement, the kids health and welfare, or the logistics needed to get the kids where they need to be. Don't show her the dignity of eye contact. Don't use her name. She is a non-person.

I've been there man. As the others said...if you haven't already...get an audio recorder and keep it running. Speaking from personal experience... my separation/move out went from fairly cordial the morning of to me calling the Sheriff's department in a matter of a couple minutes.

You need that recorder to protect yourself. Without it...it's your word vs. hers...and they're going to believe her (at least for the immediate result of getting you off the premises and/or arrested). Good luck.

Well it is morning here. Made it trough the night without issue. And yes I have it all on tape. Also I have a video & audio recorder hidden in the garage. It looks like a alarm motion sensor.
So out here I am double covered on anything that happens. I need to get off my butt and start my journal.
@bart, yeah I read up on that, fits her to a T.
Thanks guys for everything.
