QDRO sites

Postby dadinnj » Fri Apr 06, 2012 7:58 pm

My ex-wife is once again hounding me to get her "her money" from my 401k plan. She was supposed to get a portion of it in the divorce, but only when she paid her portion of the filing fees. To this date, that hasn't happened, so I haven't gotten her a nickle.

I am thinking of just filing the QDRO to get it over with. It'll be one less thing she can under my skin about. My lawyer had told me it would be about $500 to file through her. I see there are lot of online sites that offer QDROs papers for much cheaper. Has anyone ever used one of this sites? They seem legit, but you never really can tell. Sites like qdropedia and qdrodesk.

Thanks.

Mine was a pension division - long story, but we went to final with this not filed - but with wording that "Husband's lawyer will file. Judge signed off - divorce was final - a month later lawyer went on leave - and did not complete this. OC sent a nasty gram threatening motion and monentary damages.
My lawyer's associate pointed me to a QDRO lawyer that specialized - Retainer and $300.00/ hr.

I contacted the plan administrator - explained my situation and he walked me thru the process -He sent several "typical" examples of QDROs. I had to revise drafts 4 times - but then he sent to plan lawyer and he signed off - sent to OC and it was done - no out of pocket money, just that time.

If you have more time than money - it might be worth spending the time researching and see if someone will help you out.

This guy did mine and was only the 350.00 he quoted me. Took a couple or revisions between him and work but didn't take all that long.
