So the only career that will possibly ever work for you is one that does not pay you enough to hire a lawyer, does not allow you to attend 66% of your parenting time, can lay you off for months at a time while preventing you from working elsewhere, and you defend this career.

That makes sense.

When did I defend it?

I asked honestly for a suggestion on a different path and any advice on how to obtain it.

I am responsible for health insurance, if I left to find another job...I would be without insurance for my child for at least 90 days. Firstly, that wouldnt be fair to my daughter...secondly, I dont know how the courts would view it.

Is there a job out there that would pay anything over $12 starting out? Please tell me one. And also how I would survive as well as be able to provide for my child. In addition to support, I also provide for out of pocket expenses such as special equipment, braces, shoes, holistic therapy programs...etc.

How much did your attorney cost you? As previously mentioned, it cost me in the neighborhood of $7-8k. That is a big chunk of change for me and for most people I would imagine. Non interest, it took $300 a month for 2 years to pay off. What kind of job do you have that you have that much disposable income?

I came here for some help, if you dont have anything positive to conribute I would appreciate it if you kept it to yourself.

I can't get past the disability/ ski lessons part.

Disabled people are able to do most things that "normal" folk can, they just go about it a different way. There is adaptive equipment out there that allows this.

dada wrote:Believe me if I could work I would. First, I am in a union to which I signed a contract that for a period of 5 years I could not work for the competition. (okay my fault, nonetheless.....) If I did, I would be sued for the cost of my training. I have 2 years left of that agreement.

The only job that I am going to be able to obtain that would pay a living wage would be to work for the competitor (ASSuming there is even such a job available-which the help wanted ads are showing....lets see....zilch). There is a lull in the construction field currently affecting tradesman union and non union alike.

Yeah, sure.... I could go find 4 part time jobs that didnt require me to work on Saturdays or Thursday evenings

Any other suggestions? No, seriously...I would appreciate some insight to where I can find a job for which I have no experience (other than construction) that will pay me enough to afford that $15 you speak of. Do you think Im living the high life while I "refuse" to see my child? A job or jobs that wont further burying myself in a hole. In all honesty, how is that going to benefit our child?

If you're in NY I can help find you free certification, training classes with job placement. I've been doing this type of social work for close to 20 years now and have every certification and school listed from Staten Island to Rochester hit me up with a PM if you want some leads.
