New Smartphone?

Thinking of getting a smartphone.

I have read the post on the iphone and saving text to email with date and time and the number it is from or sent to.

Also, i think there was a post about a program for it to record phone conversations.

These are the 2 options I want if I do upgrade to a smartphone.

Any other phones that these options can be done with?

Carrier is Verizon if that matters.

I have an iPhone,
There is no app that will allow you to record incoming call, Apple will not allow this. There are a couple of apps that will record outgoing calls.
For Voice mails I had to connect my phone to my computer with a 1/8" male to male audio jack and then play each voice mail and record it using some type of audio software on my computer, there is no way to move the audio files from the phone directly.

For texts there are a couple of programs for your computer that can retrive text converstiaons from the iPhone back up on your computer. These may now work for voice mail as well, but I'm not sure.

Now you can also jail break your iPhone and I think there are apps that will do all of the above directly, but jail breaking voids your warranty.

Apple is still fairly strict on what they allow app develops to do through the app store.

I think the android apps have more flexibility.

Get a droid.... Then get trapcall. Record the calls plus un mask any private numbers. Check it out on youtube.

It gets the text messages from the iPhone back up file, they have a mac and pc version.

They have another program that will retrieve voice mails as well, I haven't used this one, but the text one works great

I use smsbackup on my Android. Saves the text messages to my google mail account.

Tagging along in this thread with a similar question - basically, which smartphone should I get?

I'm about to get a new phone with Verizon. I thought about switching to Sprint but I can get a new phone now with Verizon, and I think it would be worth it to be able to start better tracking communications with STBX. Right now I transcribe and forward texts from my basic flip-phone. I could get so much more with a good phone.

So should I wait 'til April to change to Sprint, or get a new one with Verizon right now? And whcih phone would any of you guys recommend?
