Saving Iphone texts

You want to make sure that you capture the text messages in a way that the data can be authenticated if needed to be submitted as in court evidence. Don't do this half baked and ask an attorney or forensics expert first.

I use google voice. It keeps a record of every text, call, and voicemail.... forever.

Also, the audio files can be downloaded as .mp3s

The only bad part is it doesn't handle texted photos.

I'd think that in court it would go something like this:

Lawyer: How is the communication with your X.

You: She's is really high conflict and bla bla bla.

Lawyer: Your honor, I'd like to submit into evidence these text messages.

Then, if there are objections, you basically authenticate them yourself. You are under oath and say you remember sending and receiving them and since its just between you and the X, its not hearsay.

Is there a good way to save text conversations from my iphone to my laptop. I've got some pretty juicy exchanges and I'm always afraid that I will accidently delete them.

you can screen shot the screen of texts, and save it as a picture. hold the lock button and home button down together and it will take a picture of whatever is on your screen

I highly suggest using google voice. You can search your messages for words and the time/date logging of the messages is great.

Also since the servers handling the txts are outside of your control I would (like to) believe they might be less contested as evidence in court.

For ordinary flipphones, I use a webcam (logitech) to take a snapshot of a message. Not elegant but it works.
