NJ and her $h1t credit, ugh.

So...I pulled NJ's credit report today on a hunch. After my hearing, I figured that NJ would try to get her own place...rather than pay me spousal support. The day after the hearing, I see an inquiry on her report for a tenant placement agency (I'm assuming she went to an apartment complex and had them run her credit to see if she could rent from them). Just to confirm that she was denied the apartment and is still in the house, I called the power company to confirm that there's still power at the house. There is.

A few days later...I see an inquiry from a mortgage company. Only my NJ would go from being denied at an apartment complex to attempting to get a mortgage.

To be safe...I pulled my credit as well to see if she was going to try and screw with my mortgage. No inquiries on my credit. I'd probably have my house back in a matter of days if her stupid a55 could get a place. Her parents will likely have to co-sign on an apartment for her, but something tells me that she hasn't even told them yet about her little issue. Oh well...at least she's finally come to the realization that she has to move out at some point.

Not sure I see a question here but you might want to look into the laws on pulling up the credit report of your spouse / ex-spouse. I'm fairly certain I read somewhere that is illegal.

Not a question...more of a rant. She appropriated my sealed military medical records (violated patient privacy laws), has lied under oath, etc. The court already has her number (I was awarded spousal support...but have yet to collect a cent). I'm not sweating pulling up her credit report to see whether or not she's making preparations to vacate my house (which she has not paid one cent for), so that I can plan to have the utilities turned back on in a timely manner...so that I don't take back my house filled with mold/spoiling groceries in the fridge/etc.

As the owner of the house you can request notification from the utility companies when service has been requested to be shut off.

Thank you. I'll do that tomorrow.

Edit: That's not going to work. You have to have previously setup a "property owner agreement" to be notified if there's a change in status. I'll have to keep calling in.
