Child Support when you are already paying child support

Postby wootton » Fri Jan 28, 2005 11:21 am

How does it work when I pay child support to my ex wife for one child and now my current wife and I may get divorced and we have two children together. How do you calculate how much to pay?

It depends on your state, but the support for child # 1 will not change due to additional support being paid to children # 2 and # 3

Don't worry about what you cannot control. Focus on what is legally relevant, not morally indignant or petty.

Support for second family would be calculate on current income less support already paid.

In PA they do reduce the child support from the first family. This recently happened in my case I just had a baby and the first was getting 192 a week and now it was cut in half.
