Not really, but sorta...

I'm white, ex is too. My kid tells me I'm supposed to be with somebody the same color as me. My girlfriend isn't. He said it a while back and I used to wonder if STBX was telling the kid bad stuff about her, but lately he has started to say that me and his mom both shouldn't be with anybody who is a different color (her fbuddy is not white).

It is kinda weird... not sure where it falls on the spectrum of things, like if he hears it at school, or if he really just thinks about it. I kinda think his little kids' head is searching for a way to convince me and his mom to get back together... I feel bad...

Like should be with like seems like a natural observation a kid would make.

When D was ~ 5-8, she said brunettes shouldn't be with blonds. Hair color was supposed to *match*. She's of mixed race, and grew out of it. It might just depend on the age of your child.

I wouldn't worry about it other than to explain to him..
He could just have a racist friend or have overheard something, you can never tell.
