Pretty funny how many twists and turns this post took since my OP, how the heck did we end up here? Noticed only one response from our women folk 'bout the topic. Glad it turned out fun and took some guys minds off their real problems for a bit. 750 views and almost as many responses as Joey Chestnut ate hot dogs.

Just to give a sense of how far this has gone in modern society, we now have the oft-used phrase of "cameltoe" as part of the english language to describe one phenomenon closely related to your observations in the OP.
