Though I don't think it's good to be married to more than one person, part of me is amused by some of the double standards in this nation. I'm specifically thinking of all the progress gay rights groups have made to advance their goals. How is this really different? That is, why is it the government's job to stick their nose into the private affairs of consenting adults?

When we're talking about two consenting adults, all is fine and well. When we're multiple consenting adults... it starts to get a little fuzzier, and not for the moral reasons many would spout (I don't care about them, I only care about my morals, and not dictating them to others).

But when we've got one person, married to multiple people, causes a bigger strain on the social safety network. For standard bigamous families, with multiple kids with multiple wives, it is not uncommmon for welfare to be a part of the equation.

With gay marriage, not so much...

Marriage should be eliminated. It should be changed to a 'corporation' or something. People who want to form one should be required to go to classes on the legal procedures of dissolving corporations before they get a license to form one.

I heard the story on the radio on the way home.

I haven't heard any mention of the poor left behind wife filing for divorce at any time prior. She seemed content. It seems to me she just jumped at the chance to get the guy in trouble.

Assuming this is true, he didn't file some paperwork while she is a vindictive bltch. No wonder the guy left and just wanted to forget the whole episode.
