A4H asked me tonight how raising boys has been different than raising girls. Or something like that. We were a few beers into it and it was loud but it got me thinking.
Boys are simply more destructive. From taking a Sharpie to new carpet, breaking a new toy by the end of the day, leaving big rocks in the grass for the lawnmower to find or taking parts of the neighbors split rail fence to build a fort boys are hands down more destructive.
I think the most destructive thing my daughter has done is give her dolls a haircut.
With boys, you really must check the pockets before you do laundry. Worms and soft bugs might get washed away but the giant stag beetle and lizard wont.
Half my daughters clothes don't even have pockets.
The boys are fearless past the point of recklessness. The first time my son got on a 4 wheeler he slammed the throttle wide open, lost control, flipped it, got back on and spent the rest of the day reaching top speed and slamming on brakes and perfecting his slide.
The first time my daughter got on a 4 wheeler she carefully putted around the yard, no tricks, no jumps, no slides.
Sons have never been excited about school. Middle son's first day of pre-K he ran out of class and was headed out of the school before having to be restrained. They do OK in school but they would just as soon not go.
Daughter has always been excited about going to school. Loves to see her friends, teachers pet, very helpful.
Dirt. The boys are dirt magnets. Give them new shoes and socks and the socks are filthy by the end of the day. Boys shoes suck up dirt through the soles and into the shoe.
I'm sure you guys have many more.
