Your wife also has leverage because of possible AOA actions against your friend.

This one is new to me. AOA?

Alienation of Affection. It is a civil case that one can bring against Mr Wonderful, but not every state has it. Alas, my state doesn't.

I imagine it's inexpensive and uncomplicated to prove it. I mean, lawyers created the idea, after all.

OP stated he was in NC, AOA and Criminal Conversation suits could be brought up. It may not get anywhere but the suits are brought up mostly for leverage in our state. They are pretty much the most expensive civil suits to try so his friend would have the risk of a large judgement hanging over their head and at least $3-10k retainer to defend themselves.
